Alla presenza di autorità civili e militari, si è tenuta questa mattina la cerimonia di scopertura della targa in memoria di Salvatore Bennici, l’imprenditore licatese assassinato dalla mafia vent’anni fa, il 25 giugno del 1994, per essersi ribellato al racket di cosa nostra. L’iniziativa è stata promossa dall’Associazione “A testa alta” presieduta dall’avvocato Antonino Catania e si è svolta in via Palma, nel luogo del delitto. Oltre alle autorità civili e militari erano presenti alla cerimonia anche i sostituti procuratori del Tribunale di Agrigento, Salvatore Vella e Andrea Maggioni. E’ stato padre Totino Licata a officiare la cerimonia a cui hanno preso parte diverse personalità: il vice presidente regionale di Confindustria, Giuseppe Catanzaro, l’imprenditore Francesco Urso che con le sue dichiarazioni ha fatto scattare l’operazione di polizia “Ouster” e la famiglia al completo di Salvatore Bennici. E’ stato con forza ribadito il fronte comune contro la mafia, i soprusi e il racket delle estorsioni e l’iniziativa di “A testa alta” ha avuto partners importanti come Libera, Associazione di Nomi e numeri contro la mafia e il sindacato di Polizia Coisp.
