Riprenderà durante questa settimana il servizio di controllo della velocità, tramite autovelox, di autovetture e motocicli all’interno e all’esterno del centro abitato a cura del comando di Polizia Municipale di Piazzale Libia. A darne comunicazione è stato l’assessore al ramo, Paolo Licata, in seguito a quanto stabilito con il comandante dei Vigili Urbani, Giovanna Incorvaia. Da Palazzo di Città fanno sapere che lo scopo principale dell’introduzione di questa misura di controllo della velocità non è dettata da una finalità di natura economica, anche se sembra difficile crederci fino in fondo. E’ chiaro infatti che l’elevazione di sanzioni comminate a causa dell’alta velocità porterà introiti nelle casse comunali. L’anno scorso il controllo elettronico fu attivato solo durante la stagione estiva per limitare la velocità delle automobili soprattutto lungo le strade di accesso ai lidi balneari.
