Apprendo da Dagospia e dal Fatto Quotidiano che il direttore di Repubblica ha censurato un post di un blogger indipendente, il matematico PierluigiOdifreddi. Esprimo tutta la mia indignazione, anzi il mio orrore. L’opinione espressa da Odifreddi è forte, molto forte: paragona le azioni militari israeliane alle logiche di nazisti come Kappler e Kesserling. Forse troppo forte. Ma se un giornale affida un blog a un collaboratore deve lasciargli libertà d’opinione e correre il rischio che sia politicamente scorretto,che non sia allineato. E quando, come in questo caso, il giornale ritiene l’opinione inaccettabile, la risposta non può essere la censura e dunque la rimozione del post, ma una civilissima e ferma presa di posizione in cui il giornale si distanzia da quelle opinioni. Così, perlomeno, si comporta un giornale autenticamente libero, ma Repubblica evidentemente non lo è. Difende i gay ma non sopporta i politicamente diversi, si dice liberale ma non riesce a soffocare l’istinto assolutista, settario, omologante e intollerante, tipico di chi, come accadeva ai tempi di Lotta Continua e dell’infatuazione comunista, divide il mondo in buonie cattivi. Che non si interroga, che non dubita, ma che milita sempre con convinzione e soprattutto in gruppo, eternamente conformista. Come dimostra il caso di Odifreddi, il quale ha diritto di esprimere le sue opinioni, per quanto estreme e urtanti possano essere. Ma non sulla Repubblica di Ezio Mauro.
