E’ stato il porto turistico Marina di Cala del Sole a salutare questo pomeriggio la partenza della “Sea Eye” imbarcazione battente bandiera olandese che nei prossimi dieci giorni sarà impegnata (in forma volontaria staccata da Frontex) in pieno Canale di Sicilia dove presterà opera di volontariato in soccorso dei tanti barconi carichi di migranti che sfruttando le condizioni meteo-marine favorevoli salperanno dalle coste del Nord Africa alla volta di Lampedusa e dell’Europa. Si tratta di un vecchio peschereccio che è stato rimesso a nuovo e impiegato per questa nobile finalità. L’imbarcazione arriva da Rostock, porto tedesco che si affaccia sul mar Baltico, e per l’equipaggio si tratta della prima operazione di soccorso. Sulla darsena del Marina di Cala del Sole stamattina è stato stipato il carico portato a bordo dal natante: tantissima acqua, viveri e molti vestiti (soprattutto per bambini) pronti ad essere distribuiti ai profughi attualmente in attesa di partire dalle coste del Nord Africa per affrontare il viaggio della speranza attraverso il Canale di Sicilia alla ricerca di condizioni di vita migliori rispetto a quelle attuali. La “Sea Eye”, il cui equipaggio è composto da otto persone, presterà la sua opera a 250 chilometri dalle coste libiche.
